When Roy Peires established what would become the IDILIQ Group in the 1980s, commercial success and community responsibility developed in tandem. Over the decades, his commitment to the communities surrounding IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts evolved from individual charitable donations into a structured, multi-organisation philanthropic programme — the IDILIQ Foundation — that now supports dozens of causes across the Costa del Sol and beyond.
Early Commitments on the Costa del Sol
The foundation of Roy Peires’s charitable work traces back to Cudeca, an organisation that provides free specialised palliative care and companionship to patients and their families in advanced stages of terminal illness. Peires donated the reception of Cudeca’s newly built hospice and has sustained that partnership for years. The IDILIQ Foundation now sponsors Cudeca’s annual Walkathon, donates furniture and goods to their charity shops across the province, and has purchased a dedicated vehicle for the organisation’s Home Care team — a practical contribution that enables carers to reach patients who cannot travel.
The relationship with Cudeca also directly informed the development of Kind Holidays, through which IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts provides free accommodation to patients and their families, offering many a final opportunity to create lasting memories together.
Supporting Disability Services in Mijas
In one of the IDILIQ Foundation’s most significant capital investments, Roy Peires committed €1,600,000 to construct the F. Cruz Dias-ADIMI Care Centre in Mijas. ADIMI is the only private non-profit organisation in the municipality dedicated to defending the rights, inclusion, and quality of life of people with cognitive and developmental disabilities.
The centre now provides treatment and support to more than 500 people. Across two floors, it incorporates the latest medical technology, three dining rooms, consultation rooms for psychotherapy and physiotherapy, gardens, and a residential facility for individuals with severe conditions. The IDILIQ Foundation’s support extends beyond the building itself — ongoing campaigns collect materials and funds to further improve the quality of life for ADIMI’s users.
A Network of Community Partnerships
The IDILIQ Foundation’s charitable reach extends well beyond any single organisation. The Foundation works closely with Afesol, the Association of Families and Individuals with Mental Health Conditions, donating furniture and household items to supervised living facilities and equipping Afesol’s Day Centre in Mijas. IDILIQ volunteers join Afesol’s annual walk for suicide prevention.
Since the IDILIQ Foundation’s creation, Roy Peires has backed the Christmas Campaign of Los Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche, providing 500 Christmas Eve meals annually. The Foundation has also donated computer equipment to groups including Asociación Cadi, El Faro de la Escucha, Asociación ALAS, and Fuensocial, fully equipping a computer classroom for Fuensocial users with disabilities.
In the fight against breast cancer, the IDILIQ Foundation runs an annual internal campaign whose proceeds go entirely to the Asociación Española Contra el Cancer (AECC) in Málaga. The Foundation has also donated resort accommodation to families of children undergoing cancer treatment, removing the burden of accommodation costs during prolonged hospital stays.
A Global Commitment Through Christel House
Roy Peires’s philanthropic work is not confined to southern Spain. For more than two decades, he has supported Christel House, an international charity that builds schools in under-resourced communities around the world.
